”Naver Pay” to be linked with ”WeChat Pay”, enabling QR payments in most parts of China - Korean report

South Korea's Naver Financial has announced that its payment service "Naver Pay" will be integrated with "WeChat," an electronic payment service operated by Tencent Holdings, a major Chinese internet service provider.
The company announced that it will provide QR payment services for WeChat Pay. Prior to this, the company announced that it will start accepting payments from China UnionPay, a major Chinese payment service provider, from September 2023.
The company has launched a QR payment service linked to Union Pay by the Chinese government. By linking with WeChat Pay, Naver Pay can now be used at most QR payment affiliated stores in China.
"WeChat Pay" can only be used through the "Naver Pay" app. This collaboration is the latest in a series of joint ventures between Naver Financial and China Unibank, which began in 2023.
This is based on cooperation with China Union Pay, which supports the integration of various payment services, including Naver Pay, with WeChat Pay.
