According to the city of Gwangju, 81 of the 181 victims of the Jeju Air passenger plane disaster lived in Gwangju.

He also said, "I only have the talent to cook food, so I thought that I could find some relief by serving others through food, so I decided to come out here," and will hold a memorial service for the bereaved families on the first of next month, the first day of the new year.
According to rescue authorities including the Fire and Disaster Management Agency, at around 9:07 a.m. on the 29th, Jeju Air Flight 7C2216 was attempting to land on the runway at Muan Airport when it crashed into the runway.
The plane collided with the runway wall. Of the 181 people on board (175 passengers and 6 crew members), 179 were killed, all except for two.
Choi Sang-mok, acting president, deputy prime minister and minister of strategy and finance, will serve until January 4th.
A period of national mourning was declared.
