Samsung Electronics increases stake in robotics company to accelerate humanoid development (South Korea)
Samsung Electronics has become the second largest shareholder in South Korean robot developer Rainbow Robotics by taking a 35% stake through a call option.
Rainbow Robotics will become a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics on its consolidated financial statements. Samsung Electronics will invest 86.8 billion won (approximately 9.229 billion yen) in 2023 to acquire Rainbow Robotics' shares.
Samsung Electronics had established a Next-Generation Robot Promotion Team under the direct control of the CEO to focus on the development of next-generation robotics technology.
