A rally against the impeachment of President Yoon is being held in front of the International Lutheran Church. The participants are protesting against President Park Jung-jun's arrest, who thwarted the execution of an arrest warrant by the High-Ranking Public Officials Investigation Agency the previous day.
They applauded Chief Young of the National Guard and defended the agency. The rally participants, holding the Taegeukgi and Stars and Stripes, chanted slogans such as "Impeachment is invalid" and "Disband the Agency for Investigation of Crimes by High-Ranking Public Officials."
They also called for Lee Jae-myung to be arrested and Moon Jae-in to be executed, and took a harsh stance against the Office for Investigation of Crimes by High-Ranking Public Officials, calling for it to be dismantled.
A participant in his 20s from Anseong, Gyeonggi Province, said, "They have committed all sorts of illegal acts, bribed judges, and even ignored the provisions of the law to arrest President Yoon, who is innocent of any crime.
"Is this situation going to continue?" he said. A man in his 70s who had been guarding the scene since the evening of the previous day said, "I spent the whole night worrying that the High-Ranking Public Officials Crime Investigation Agency might come today.
Meanwhile, the High-Ranking Public Officials Crime Investigation Agency filed charges against Park and Kim Sung-Hoon, deputy chief of the security service, on the previous day for special obstruction of public duties, and requested that they appear on the same day.
"This is a very sensitive time for presidential security, and the chief and deputy chief of the security service cannot leave their posts even for a moment," he said, refusing to comply with the summons.
