The People's Power Party accuses Democratic Party lawmakers Choo Mi-ae, Park Sun-won, and Roh Jong-myeon of ”spreading obvious false facts” (South Korea)
On the 7th, the People's Power Party (ruling party) filed suit against the police against Choo Mi-ae, Park Seong-won, and Roh Jong-myeon, all Democratic Party lawmakers, on charges of defamation by making false statements.
Prior to this, Rep. Choo held a press conference at the National Assembly on the 5th and explained the process of the High-Ranking Public Officials Crimes Investigation Agency's (PPA) execution of the arrest warrant for President Yoon Seok-yeol.
He said he had received information that "Park Jong-jun, head of the presidential guard service, gave the order, 'If he is pushed forward with a physical attack, fire blanks, and if that doesn't work, fire live ammunition.'"
In response, the People's Power countered through a media announcement that "there was no order to fire blanks or live ammunition, so this is clearly the spreading of false facts."
Park also said at the press conference, "(The Security Service) is gathering all its employees every day and preparing a plan to use them as human shields to resist future warrant executions."
"We pushed for the securing of water trucks, but the police did not comply," the People's Power said. "Counter-terrorism units and fire engines are the highest-level national security facilities.
They are normally deployed in the presidential palace area to respond to terrorism and fires. This is normal security activity that has nothing to do with the execution of a warrant."
Furthermore, the People's Power said, "Rep. Roh said, 'Former People's Power Floor Leader Chu Kyung-ho was involved in pre-martial law conspiracy.
"The allegation that he attended the dinner and may have had prior knowledge of the plot to insurrection is patently false," he added.
