Only salaried workers are happy about the temporary public holidays... Self-employed people sigh = Korea

The Democratic Party of Korea has decided to designate the 27th, the day before the Lunar New Year holiday, as a special public holiday. While office workers are cheering when they hear this, self-employed people are sighing in delight.
In relation to this, Rep. Choi Min-hee of the Democratic Party of Korea shared a post by a self-employed person who said, "Please stop designating the 27th as an emergency public holiday," and called for the public to stop making the 27th an emergency public holiday.
The concern is that the government's stated purpose for designating temporary public holidays may not be realized as a way to stimulate domestic demand.
On the 8th, Rep. Choi shared a post titled "The Desperate Appeal of a Self-Employed Person" on her Facebook page.
"If January 27th is designated as an emergency public holiday, the long holiday will lead to more people traveling abroad, which will reduce domestic consumption and make it even harder for self-employed people. Therefore, I would like the designation of the 27th as an emergency public holiday to be stopped."
Before publishing this article, Rep. Choi also posed a hot topic to internet users, asking, "What do you think about the designation of January 27 as a special public holiday?"
The comments were mostly negative, with comments such as, "I wish the New Year holidays would be abolished," "It's hard for the self-employed," and "Ordinary people will just have to watch the rich go out and have fun."
Conspiracy theories also emerged that the designation of the special public holiday was a ploy by the government and ruling party to turn the situation around.
"There is no way that these people can make decisions for the people. There seems to be some kind of conspiracy going on," and "They're just stalling for time." Seoul Seongdong District Mayor Jeong Jeong-oh also wrote on his Feisbook:
He expressed regret over the government's announcement, saying, "If we are going to have special public holidays, we need to choose the dates carefully," and argued that January 31 would be more effective than the government's proposed date of January 27.
"Once people finish their holiday plans and take a break until the weekend, they are more likely to eat out with their families or go out for a short trip," he said. "This is in line with the government's aim to promote consumption and boost domestic demand."
He particularly warned that the extra public holiday one day before the long weekend could increase the domestic work burden on married women.
