The rallies are expected to be contested by tens of thousands of people from around the country, causing heavy traffic congestion in the Gwanghwamun and Yongsan areas.
Conservative groups, centered around the Liberal Unionist Party, held a protest in Seoul from 1 p.m. on the same day.
The protesters will hold an anti-impeachment rally from Donghwa Duty Free Shop near Gwanghwamun Gate in Jongno-gu, Seoul to Daehanmun Gate. Police estimate that about 30,000 people will gather, and the rally will take place at Exit 2 of Gwanghwamun Station.
All lanes will be closed from the intersection to the Kyobo Building and Daehanmun Gate. Progressive groups, including the Emergency Action for Social Reform and Resignation of Yoon Seok-youl, will also be holding protests from 2 p.m. on the same day.
The group held a teaser for the "6th All-Citizens' General Rally for Social Reform and the Resignation of Yoon Seok-Yeol" in front of Gyeongbokgung Station in Jongno-gu, Seoul, drawing a crowd of 30,000. The group held a rally for about two hours.
Later, at 4 p.m., a march will take place from Dongsipcha Roundabout to the Bank of Korea Roundabout, with all lanes in one direction and three lanes in the opposite direction in these areas being closed.
A large-scale rally was also held in Yongsan on the same day. Conservative groups including the New Liberal Alliance will be holding a teaser at the Hannam-gu, Yongsan-gu rally, where the presidential residence is located, from 6 a.m.
They held a rally by occupying four roadways in front of the Luther Church in Hannam-dong. They reported that the number of participants in the rally was 35,000, and they teased a 24-hour vigil, causing traffic congestion in the Yong area on Saturday.
Traffic congestion is expected to continue throughout the day. Police are planning to actively deploy traffic police in preparation for large-scale rallies in various locations throughout the city. The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency is taking measures to ease traffic congestion around the rally sites.
In response, about 160 traffic police officers will be deployed and flexible lanes will be set up on the opposite side of the rally site, forcing buses and other vehicles to make detours, which is expected to cause massive traffic jams.
A police official said, "We are expecting heavy traffic congestion around the rally sites, such as Sejong-daero, Sajik-ro, and Hannam-daero in the Yongsan area, so we will evacuate as much as possible.
"We would like to ask you to use the subway only when possible," he said, and "if it is unavoidable to use a subway, please check the traffic information before setting off."
