South Korea's Ministry of Finance and Planning said, "Acting Minister Choi and Minister Iwao agreed that South Korea and Japan, which share values and interests, will cooperate unwaveringly to develop bilateral relations."
The two countries also stated, "In the midst of the severe international situation, cooperation between Korea and Japan and between Korea and the United States and Japan is extremely important," and "As the two countries mark the 60th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations, we will steadily carry out the commemorative events that the two countries have been preparing together."
The two sides agreed that the two countries would continue to implement the measures. Choi praised the Japanese government for emphasizing the importance of Japan-Korea relations and maintaining close communication with the Korean government, and said,
Iwasaki welcomed Acting Foreign Minister Choi's visit to South Korea as his first overseas visit this year. Minister Iwasaki offered his condolences following the Jeju Air passenger plane accident and expressed his gratitude for Acting Foreign Minister Choi's hospitality.
