However, after the meeting, the Security Service reaffirmed its previous position, saying, "Any illegal enforcement will be dealt with in accordance with the relevant laws and existing security manuals."
There was a view that the execution of the warrant may be reconsidered before it is carried out, but a High-Ranking Public Officials Crime Investigation Agency official said, "The discussion with the Security Service will not affect the execution plan, and there will be no postponement of the execution."
"It was not a place to discuss the matter," he said. After the talks collapsed, police immediately began concrete preparations to execute the warrants.
The Incheon National Police Agency's Criminal Task Force Chief and other regional investigation team commanders held their third meeting on the morning of the same day to discuss how to execute the arrest warrant. At the meeting, they discussed how to enter the presidential residence and how to get to the presidential guard station.
The presidential palace is currently blocked off with vehicle barricades and iron bars. The police have set up an "arrest and search team" to execute the arrest warrant.
The task force was divided into a "suppression team," a "obstacle removal team," and a "survey team." It is also said that they are prepared for the possibility that the operation may develop into a long-term battle lasting two to three days.
The government is also preparing measures to weaken the unity of the Security Service, President Yoon's last line of defense.
