The Korean branch of the company, Company A, announced that it had arrested and indicted six people, including Lee, who served as the de facto representative of the company, and indicted 10 employees involved in the crimes without indictment.
Mr. Lee is a former member of the sales department of Korean small and medium-sized company B, and is leading a team of 20 core engineers from B.
When he transferred to Company A, he is suspected of leaking core technology for camera module inspection equipment (violating the Industrial Technology Protection Act and the Unfair Competition Prevention Act, etc.).
Li was employed by Company B in 2021 to sell to overseas companies such as Apple, but when Company B fell into financial difficulties, he contacted a Chinese company and became an engineer himself.
In fact, Lee was involved in equipment development and overseas sales at B's R&D center, design team, and sales team.
It was revealed that he joined Company A with 20 key engineers and leaked technical documents for Company B's cutting-edge technology, "Grabber."
The South Korean prosecutors' office said, "Korean companies are not in the global camera module inspection equipment industry.
In particular, three Korean companies are the sole supplier of grabbers, the inspection equipment for camera modules used in Apple's smartphones," he said.
If this technology is leaked overseas, it could bring huge losses to the national economy."
