Director Oh Choong-hwan said, "As a director, I've always admired the romance genre, but it's also an unknown genre that I'm not familiar with and have never experienced before.
"But when I read the script, my thoughts changed. A good story has the power to make you reflect on yourself, and this work had that power the moment I first encountered it. It reminded me of my childhood and adolescence.
"The excitement and doubts I felt were expressed exactly as they were," he said, explaining why he decided to direct the film. "'Love Movie' grew from the love that was shown to me in my first film, and I wrote it with all my heart.
Screenwriter Lee Naeun, who revealed the story as "the story of a movie," said, "I tried to portray the reality that young people who dream of a movie-like life face and the future they will face. Everyone has movie-like romances and hardships in their lives.
"It's something I have in mind, but it's also filled with the support and solace I wanted to convey to myself and those around me who were at a loss as they faced that moment," she confided.
