Immediately after requesting an arrest warrant, he wrote in a letter, ”Thank you to the people who came out onto the streets.”
The High-Ranking Public Officials Crime Investigation Agency (HPA) has requested an arrest warrant for President Yoon Seok-yeol, who is suspected of leading the rebellion, and has announced that President Yoon has been arrested and is being held in detention by his supporters.
"We are grateful for the passionate patriotism of the people," he said. From the request for an arrest warrant by the Public Prosecutor's Office to the issuance of the warrant by the court, he has consistently maintained that all the actions are "illegal and invalid."
President Yoon Seok-yeol's side is interpreted as sending a rallying message to his supporters. On the 17th, at around 6:15 pm, President Yoon Seok-yeol's legal team released a statement saying, "President Yoon Seok-yeol has been released from Seoul Detention House.
President Yoon Seok-yeol said, "Hello, fellow citizens. Although it is a little inconvenient, I am spending my time peacefully in detention center," and "I have just released a letter to convey my condolences to the people of Korea after my inauguration as president."
"I am calmly reflecting on the national affairs I have been carrying out, rereading the words I have spoken to the public in my past speeches, including those for the March 1st Independence Day and Liberation Day, and my speeches to the nation," he said.
He continued, "I have heard that many of our people are taking to the cold streets to gather strength for the country," and called on people to "express their gratitude for their passionate patriotism."
President Yoon Seok-yeol's letter was made public immediately after the Public Prosecutor's Office requested an arrest warrant for President Yoon.
