")" We received an interview with actress Kim Jieun, who played Hong Deok Soo, who disguises herself as a man and infiltrates "Yongcheonlou" to find out the truth behind her father's untimely death.
Q. What kind of TV series is "Check-in Hanyang"? Can you briefly introduce your character Hong Deok Soo?
"Check-in Hanyang" is a story about four young people who live in the Korean version of a super luxurious hotel, Yongcheonlou. It is not just a coming-of-age story, but is also an exciting story that is filled with the various circumstances of the characters.
It is a TV series that pours flavor. The character "Hong Deok Soo" is a talented and very resourceful girl who, for some reason, lives as a girl in men's clothing. On the surface, she is bright, strong and reliable.
Q. Why did you decide to appear in this film? I had never acted in a period drama before, so I wanted to try it, and I also wanted to play a cross-dressing woman.
I was really interested in the story of Hong Deok Soo, who lives as a child. Q. What are the highlights of "Check-in Hanyang"?
The point is that "Check-in Hanyang" is not a simple coming-of-age story.
I hope you will also enjoy the growth stories of each character. Q. What is Hong Deok Soo's charm? His inner self is shrouded in mystery, but on the surface he is bright and dignified.
Q. Hong Deok Soo disguises himself as a man and infiltrates the largest hotel in Joseon, Yongcheon-ro, in order to get his father's house back. If you were Hong Deok Soo,
How do you think Deok-soo would have acted in the same situation? If I were Hong Deok-soo, I think I would have succeeded brilliantly and tried to live a better life (laughs).
Q. What are the similarities and differences between you and Hong Deok-soo? If Deok-soo is a slightly emotional character, I am a bit more rational than him.
Q. What did you pay particular attention to or put effort into while acting as Hong Deok Soo? I tried hard to look manly both inside and out, including my actions and tone of acting.
Q. Was the character of Hong Deok Soo a new challenge for you, Kim Jieun?
The role of Hong Deok Soo, who dresses as a man, was a new challenge for me.
I felt it was new in that it used expressions and language with different accents that are seen in period dramas. Q. What was your impression of acting with Bae In Hyuk? Please tell us if you have any memorable episodes.
Bae In Hyuk is a mischievous guy, so I think that made the atmosphere on set even better (laughs). During Chuseok (Korean Obon), he prepared a present for his parents.
I was very grateful for that. Q. What do you think is Lee Eun's charm? Since he hid his status as a prince and entered Yongcheonlou, I thought it would be difficult for him to get used to life outside the palace.
However, I thought it was attractive that Lee Eun was able to get along well anywhere. Q. Hong Deok Soo and Lee Eun had the worst first impressions of each other, but gradually they opened up to each other and got to know each other.
What drew the two of you closer? Hong Deok Soo and Lee Eun are so different that they seem more attractive to each other.
Q.What was your impression of acting alongside Jung Gun Joo? Do you have any memorable episodes?
I had a lot of fun acting with Jung Gun Joo.
I felt like I was breathing with the feeling of accomplishing a quest, because I had to perform various roles at the same time. Of course, I was careful not to lose focus at all times, and perhaps because of that, the story was richer.
(laughs) Q. What was your impression of acting with JAECHAN? Please tell us about any memorable episodes.
Jaechan's character, Sula, is the one Deoksoo trusts and relies on the most.
He is someone I rely on a lot, so I relied on him a lot. And above all, JAECHAN is kind and accepts pranks, so I was able to enjoy filming.
Q. Who was the mood maker on set? It was Kim Eui-sung senior! He was cheerful and fun on set, so we were able to have fun filming together^^
Q. The filming is almost over, but if you were to rate your satisfaction, what would you say (out of 100)? 80 points. As filming is nearing the end, I'm starting to think of more and more things I regret.
Q. What are you into these days (food, music, movies... anything) or hobbies? Recently, I've been into making and eating Greek yogurt. Also, I mainly listen to all the music by "DAY6".
I listen to your songs a lot~ Q. What is your favorite Japanese food? What would you like to eat if you came to Japan? Mitarashi dango and grilled meat sold at supermarkets! (laughs)
