A woman in her 20s searched for ”the location of a man's carotid artery” and stabbed her boyfriend with a weapon (South Korea)
A woman in her 20s who attempted to kill her ex-boyfriend with a deadly weapon after he started dating another woman was given a heavy sentence. On the 23rd, the Incheon District Court sentenced her to 10 years in prison for attempted murder.
The court announced that it had sentenced Defendant A (25, female) to seven years in prison for the crime. Defendant A was arrested at a PC bang (internet cafe) in Michuhol-gu, Incheon City, at around 10:15 pm on August 17 last year.
Defendant A was on trial for stabbing his former girlfriend, Ms. B (23), several times with a deadly weapon and attempting to kill her. Defendant A was aware that Ms. B, who had broken up with him in May, three months prior to the crime, was dating another woman.
After finding out, Defendant A began to become obsessed with the former lover. Defendant A posted mocking messages to SNS about B and his lover, and even made plans to kill B.
He spent over 10 days preparing for the crime, searching the internet for such things as "location of the carotid artery," "sashimi knife," and "sentencing for attempted murder." On the day of the crime, he went to P, a place that B often visited, with the three murder weapons.
The crime was committed in van C. Defendant A stabbed B several times with a weapon, but was subdued by the manager of the PC van and another male customer. The court stated, "On the day of the crime, the defendant was in the PC van while the victim was moving.
He watched as the attack unfolded and then moved closer to the victim, waiting for an opportunity to kill her," the court said, adding, "Considering the method of the crime and the extent of the injuries sustained by the victim, his guilt is extremely serious."
However, the court explained the reason for the sentence by saying, "The defendant has admitted to the crime," and "We took into consideration the fact that he has no history of being investigated or receiving criminal punishment."
