According to a National Barometer Survey (NBS) conducted among 20,500 people, Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, received a 28% approval rating as the person most suitable to be the next president.
Lee's approval rating fell 3 percentage points from the second week of January (31%) to the third week of January (28%), but there was no change in his approval rating in the fourth week of January.
In second place was Minister of Employment and Labor Kim Moon-soo, who rose 1 percentage point from the previous week to 14%, narrowing the gap with the first place candidate to 14 percentage points.
In third place was Daegu Mayor Hong Jun-pyo with 7%, and in fourth place was Seoul Mayor Oh Sehun and former ruling party leader Han Dong-hoon.
Meanwhile, Lee also ranked first in the presidential candidate favorability survey, down 3 percentage points from the 37% he received in the second and third weeks of January.
In second place were Mayor Oh and Minister of Employment and Labor Kim with 6%.
