While the Democratic Party said it would report the truth to the public, Na Kyung-won of the ruling People Power Party criticized the party, saying, "The Democratic Party is controlling good citizens, and if you speak the troubling truth, you become a target."
On the 23rd, Rep. Na said on social media, "This barbaric act by the Democratic Party should not be seen as a simple incident. This is not the oppression of an individual, but a violation of Korea's rule of law and liberal democracy."
"This clearly shows how arrogant and self-righteous the Democratic Party is," Rep. Na emphasized.
He continued, "How can a totalitarian idea that seeks to monitor and control good citizens be considered a 'democracy'?"
"Can he emerge from a party that is masked as such?" he said, criticizing the people for being afraid.
"Will each and every person who speaks 'troubling truths' become a target for more than just silence?" he asked.
The Democratic Party said on the previous day, the 22nd, "Chung posted on YouTube, 'The Republic of Korea Chaos'
"We will report the video, titled 'Chaos Brought About by the Election Commission,' to Google," the group said, adding, "The purpose of the video was to increase the transparency and fairness of voting, which is the very foundation of democracy."
He continued, "Following reports from internet users that 'this video is false information and malicious content,' we have posted a notice to Google stating that 'Chung's video is false information.'
In response, the ruling party criticized the move, saying it was an attempt to eliminate freedom of expression.
