South Korea's ruling party says Democratic Party should take responsibility for dismissal of impeachment case against Korea Communications Commission chairman

"The Democratic Party of Korea must take responsibility for carrying out the impeachment proceedings," Kwon said.
"I cannot understand this. The Constitutional Court should make efforts to ensure that decisions are made as quickly as possible on the other impeachment motions and that our country's politics are restored to normal."
The Constitutional Court dismissed the National Assembly's impeachment charges against Chairman Lee that morning, and Chairman Lee immediately returned to his duties.
The party's floor leader, Kwon Seong-dong, also told reporters at the National Assembly, "The rejection of the impeachment motion against Chairman Lee will lead to the Lee Jae-myung faction launching a flurry of impeachment motions and the establishment of a legislative independence movement.
"The true nature of the trial has been revealed. It's unfortunate that this is coming so late, but I hope it will sound a warning against the Lee Jae-myung faction's impeachment dictatorship and suppression of broadcasting."
Kwon added, "Of the 29 impeachment cases filed by the Lee Jae-myung faction, six, or about 20%, were filed by the Korea Communications Commission.
"The Democratic Party is trying to take control of the broadcasting and the media," he said.
He also said, "The People's Power will immediately begin reforming the five-member (Broadcasting and Communications Commission) system."
"We urge the Democratic Party to no longer neglect its constitutional authority and to proactively nominate the three candidates as part of its share of the National Assembly's responsibilities," he added.
