The special martial law investigation headquarters of the prosecution arrested and indicted President Yoon on charges of masterminding a rebellion.
The prosecution said, "The evidence materials of the complicity cases that the Special Investigation Headquarters has investigated so far,
"After comprehensively examining the evidence and other materials from the case that was referred to us by the police and investigated, we have decided that it is appropriate to indict the defendant."
President Yoon conspired with former Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun (who was arrested and indicted) and others to carry out unconstitutional and illegal acts.
He is suspected of inciting a riot with the aim of disrupting the national constitution, including declaring permanent martial law and sending armed martial law troops into the Diet.
On the 23rd, the prosecution took over the case from the High-Ranking Public Officials Crime Investigation Agency and announced the detention period.
The Seoul Central District Court rejected the request for an extension of the trial period, but the request was rejected. Prosecutor General Shim Woo-jung responded by saying that the trial would be extended from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the same day.
The Supreme Prosecutors' Office held a meeting of the top prosecutors from around the country for about 50 minutes to hear the opinions of the command center regarding how to handle President Yoon. The prosecution has decided to hold the detention period until the end without being able to conduct a face-to-face investigation of President Yoon.
With the deadline approaching the next day, it was decided to indict on this day. If prosecutors detain a suspect, they must be released if they do not indict within 10 days.
