韓国与党、尹大統領の起訴を批判「不適切で不十分な起訴」
South Korea's ruling party criticizes President Yoon's indictment as ”inappropriate and insufficient”
On the 26th, South Korea's ruling People Power Party said it was "not legally or politically responsible for the inappropriate and insufficient prosecution" of President Yoon Seok-yeol in a bid to arrest and indict him as a mastermind of a civil war.
"The prosecution's insufficient prosecution has led to the death of a sitting prime minister for the first time in constitutional history," the party's chief spokesman, Shin Dong Wook, said in a statement on the same day.
"The investigation into the president is causing huge aftereffects, such as dividing the nation and causing national unrest," Shin said.
"The prosecution, which has positioned itself as a 'quasi-judicial body for the protection of the people's human rights,' has acted illegally," he said.
"They have essentially become a subcontractor for the prosecution of the public prosecutors' office that committed the acts, and they cannot escape their heavy responsibility."
Shin said, "The judiciary must denounce the records of the illegal investigation by the Public Prosecutors' Office and prosecute the charges.
"The case should be dismissed," he said, "I strongly urge the judiciary to make a decision to establish the rule of law." He added, "Above all, the case clearly violates laws such as the Military Base and Military Facilities Protection Act.
"A rigorous investigation should be conducted immediately and thoroughly against the head of the Public Prosecutor's Office, Oh Dong-Woon, and other senior members of the Public Prosecutor's Office who have violated the Constitution," he said.
The prosecutors' office said, "After comprehensively examining the evidence of the cases of complicity investigated by the Special Investigation Headquarters and the evidence of the cases sent by the police, we have decided to indict the defendant.
We have determined that this is appropriate."
