2024 semiconductor market forecast: Samsung to reclaim top spot from Intel - Korean media

According to U.S. research firm Gartner, global semiconductor sales in 2024 are expected to increase 18.1% from the previous year to $626 billion (USD, approximately 97.7279 trillion yen).
Samsung Electronics' semiconductor sales are expected to grow 62.5% to $66.5 billion in 2024. Meanwhile, Intel's semiconductor sales are expected to grow 0.15% to $49.
Nvidia is expected to rise to third place in the world. Its sales are expected to grow 83.6% to $46 billion.
This is a rapid growth following a 63.4% growth in 2023. In fourth place is SK Hynix, which is dominating the HBM (high bandwidth memory) market.
The sales forecast analyzed before the announcement of K Hynix's results was 86% increase to 42.8 billion dollars (about 6681.7 billion yen). In fact, the consolidated sales announced on the 23rd increased 102% to 6,000 billion yen, the highest ever.
The total was 6.193 trillion won (approximately 7.2343 trillion yen). However, this survey does not include Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), the world's largest foundry (contract manufacturing of semiconductors).
The company announced that its sales for 2024 will increase by 33.9% to NT$2.89 trillion (approximately JPY 13.8588 trillion), effectively making it the world's top company.
