Democratic Party of Korea: ”President Yoon Seok-yeol's brazenness gives me goosebumps...Stop trying to delay judicial proceedings” (South Korea)
On the 28th, the Democratic Party of Korea criticized President Yoon Seok-yeol, saying, "President Yoon, who is standing on the legal trial on charges of being the mastermind of a rebellion, has once again uttered words that mock the people."
Cho Seung-rye, chief spokesman for the Democratic Party of Korea, said in a written briefing on the same day, "They started a civil war with their own hands, undermined the constitutional order, and cut off the economy, and yet they are still brazen.
"It really gives me goosebumps to hear him say, 'I'm worried about the future of the country,'" he said. "Did someone who was worried about the future of the country mobilize the military, start a civil war, and incite his rabid supporters?
"Even in front of the stage, he still refuses to admit his mistake. Where is the end of this shamelessness?" he pointed out. President Yoon's remarks about his wife Kim Gun-Hee's poor health
Regarding the issue, Chief Spokesperson Cho sarcastically said, "If you were expecting sympathy, wake up from your dream. All that remains vivid in the minds of the people is the image of Kim Kun-hee and Yoon Seok-yeol, who have been tainted by all sorts of fraud and corruption allegations."
He added, "If President Yoon has even the slightest concern for the country, he should at least stop trying to delay the judicial process."
Meanwhile, President Yoon met with his lawyers at Seoul Detention House on the same day and said, "Why is this martial law a civil war? How can it turn into a civil war?"
According to lawyer Seok Dong-hyun, President Yoon repeatedly made it clear that he had declared martial law using his constitutional authority in order to allow the large opposition party to take control of the National Assembly.
"But more than anything, I'm worried about the future of the country," he said. He also said he was "a little worried" about the recent poor health of First Lady Kim.
