In the letter, Kim said, "The free Republic of Korea has fallen into anarchy," and called for the impeachment and arrest of the current president.
He criticized the opposition party for filing impeachment petitions against 30 public officials, including the prime minister, after the ruling party held talks with Kim. He also said, "Evil groups, consumed by lust for power, have conspired with China and North Korea to manipulate public opinion and rig elections.
"They are taking control of the National Assembly," he said. He said they are using the dictatorship of the National Assembly to paralyze the judiciary and executive branch, creating anarchy and trying to offer the country up to North Korea and China.
Kim said, "Ripple elections are an act of treason that shakes the very foundations of the Republic of Korea, and we cannot allow a free Republic of Korea to fall into a communist or socialist state through rigged elections.
"We will never allow this to happen," he said. He also called for "fighting even harder so that the people who have not yet woken up can quickly recognize the reality."
Regarding those involved in the violent storming of the Western District Court on January 19, he called them "patriot warriors" and said, "Their patriotism will be remembered forever."
Kim was arrested and indicted on December 27 last year on suspicion of abuse of power after serving in an important role during the December 3 emergency martial law that was declared a civil war.
At the first hearing on the 16th of last month, the defense team argued for dismissal of the charges, stating that "the prosecution cannot make a decision on emergency law, which is the exclusive authority of the president."
In response, the prosecution said, "There is a Supreme Court precedent that if martial law acts are crimes, they are subject to judicial review." The 25th Criminal Division of the Seoul Central District Court held the second trial for Kim on the 6th of this month.
A pretrial hearing is scheduled to be held.
