During a meeting with lawmakers, Kwon reportedly said, "I want the party to play a greater role in leading the country."
President Yoon's main remarks during an interview at Seoul Detention Center were as follows. Chairman Kwon said, "(President Yoon) had a lot of concerns about the country. He was worried about the security situation and about the changes in international sentiment.
"I was also very worried about the future difficulties facing the Korean economy," he said. Chairman Kwon Young-se also said, "There was little discussion about why martial law was imposed.
"There were a lot of things going on, starting with the impeachment (led by the opposition party) and the special investigation, and it was impossible to get the job done, so we had no choice but to think like we were under martial law, and there were some talks like that," he said.
He continued, "The president has only been suspended from his duties, and as the president is a former member of the People's Power, I naturally felt that someone like me should go, and so I decided to go.
According to Kwon Young-sae, President Yoon has many members of the right wing, including young people in their 20s and 30s and other generations.
In order to achieve this, he asked, "Please bring together these people so that they can support the party," and "Please do not show that the party is divided, but rather move forward as one."
In response to a question from reporters asking if there was any mention of an early presidential election, Chairman Kwon Young-seo said, "There was no talk of that kind at all, and no one said anything about it.
"As I said, there was no talk of a pardon at all," he said. He added, "I hope that President Yoon will lead the party in his own direction and that there will be no misunderstandings like this," and said that he was not a member of the leadership.
He repeatedly emphasized that it was a very 'personal' visit.
