The famous team behind "The Outlaws" (2015) is back again! Director Oh Seung-wook's latest film "Revolver," starring the famous actor Jung Do Yeong, will be screened at TOHO Cinemas Hibiki from Friday, February 28th.
Released nationwide at cinemas including Tani! The first 5 minutes of the movie, which begins with former detective Ha Suyeong, played by Jung Do Yeong, being framed for a police corruption case and being released after serving two years in prison, have been released.
Special release! All the characters are villains! Jung Do Yeong plays the most dry avenger in history in this Korean revenge noir about lost money and honor.
This is a new work by Sanai Pictures, a production company that has produced many Korean noir masterpieces such as "New World" and "Asura".
The movie is "Revolver." Detective Suyeong, who is caught up in a corruption scandal within the police, is sent to prison after "promising" to receive a large sum of money in return for taking the blame for his girlfriend's crime. However, when she is released,
No one showed up... Who betrayed him?! To make sure the traitor keeps his promise and to get his life back, Suyeong takes up a revolver and throws himself into a desperate fight alone.
.... All the characters are villains, and the thrilling story unfolds in a way that makes it hard to tell who is friend or foe, drawing all viewers in. This masterpiece noir film was directed by the director of "The Villain: Thirst"
Following "The Sin," Oh Seung-wook teams up with Jung Do Yeong. This film is also attracting attention as a rare noir film with a female protagonist, and won the Best Picture and Best Supporting Actress awards (Limb JIYEON) at the 33rd Buil Film Awards.
It won three awards, including Best Picture, Best Cinematography, and was nominated in five categories at the 45th Blue Dragon Film Awards. It also won the Grand Prize at the 25th Busan Association of Film Critics Awards, making it a film that is attracting a lot of attention in the award race.
The protagonist Suyeong, who makes his way through a dark world of intrigue, is played by Jeong Do Yeong, who took on a full-scale action role in "Gil Bok-soon."
He opened up new horizons with his powerful acting. He co-starred with Ji Chang Wook from "Gangnam B-Side". He gave a powerful performance and won the Best Supporting Actor award at the Korean Film Producers Association Awards.
A star-studded cast of actors from movies and TV series, including Im Jiyeon from "The Great Gangster" and Lee Jung Jae from "The Squid Game" and Kim Jung Soo from "Smuggler 1970", will be gathered together to show the future.
Ahead of the release, a five-minute clip from the opening scene of the film, in which Ha Suyeong, played by Jung Do Yeong, sets his revenge in motion, has been specially released!
On the day he was released after serving two years in prison, a prison guard asked him, "What happened to the scar under your eye?" to which he quietly replied, "I slipped in the bathroom."
Suyeong (Jung Do Yeong) answers with a smile. He remains expressionless throughout the rest of the questioning, saying, "Please state your prisoner number and name." "6593 Ha Suyeong." "What is your address after release?" "I don't have one."
"What is your parents' address?" "They've both passed away." "Where will you be staying after you're released?" "I don't have any friends or acquaintances," he answers matter-of-factly, before being released. Then, as Suyeong leaves the prison, a car appears in front of him.
"No greeting?" the prosecutor in charge of the case approaches. The case of her boss, Section Chief Im (Lee Jung-jae), who was also Suyeong's lover, is over, and he tells her, "You've been abandoned."
Madam Jung, aka Jung Yun-seong (Lim Ji-yeong), appears in a red car. "What are you here for?" "To pick me up?" "Are you here to ask for money?" the prosecutor asks.
Shige said, "Suyeong-san! (Unnie!) It's been a while." Suyeong, who had been watching the two of them in silence, asked, "Do you know me?" Shige replied, "Don't you remember me? You have an impressive face.
"But," Yoon Sung continued, "I went to say hello to President Cho's store earlier." "You look awful. I need to buy some clothes first." "Come on in. We can talk on the way." Yoon Sung picked Suyeong up in her car.
The opening scene is a contrast between Jung Do Yeong, who has a cold expression throughout, and Lim Ji Yeon, who has a unique, exaggerated expression.
When Jung Yunseong came to pick up Suyeong for the first time, she said "Unnie!" like a flying butterfly, and the moment she said that, the atmosphere changed. At that moment, I received a tremendous amount of energy from her.
"I think I was thinking, 'What can I do?'" This encounter triggered Suyeong's time to move forward, and he set out to take revenge on his betrayer and regain what he had lost.
The lonely struggle of the two begins. What kind of relationship will the great actor Jung Do Yeong and Lim Ji Yeon, who is currently attracting attention in the Hot Topic TV series "The Tale of Mrs. Ok - False Identity, True Life-" have in the future?
We hope you'll check it out on the big screen! Director Oh Seung-wook also shared a message for movie fans looking forward to the film's release in Japan, including highlights of the film!
About 20 years ago, I watched the Japanese films "Shurayukihime" and "Hibotan Bakuto" and was impressed by the female protagonists who overcame adversity on their own, without the help of men, and achieved what they wanted.
When Jung Do Yeong approached me about making a film together, I thought this was the perfect chance to make a film like this.
While writing the script, I hoped that I could show a new side of Jung Do Yeong that he hasn't shown in his previous films.
The movie "Revolver" is a movie about faces. And it is also a movie about dialogue. The characters talk face to face, and through the lines between the lines, the emotions are stirred up, and the movie is about a group of people.
It is a film that expresses the image. Director: Oh Seung-wook "The Outlaw Thirst Crime" Cast: Jung Do Yeong "Gil Boksoon", Ji Chang Wook "Gangnam B-Side", Lim JIYEON
"The Glory - Glorious Revenge", Kim Jung Soo's "Smuggling 1970", Lee Jung Jae's "Squid Game"
