Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung: ”Economic policy needs a 'pragmatic approach'...I don't agree that we should only use progressive policies” (South Korea)

Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, met with Cho Yoon-jae, former member of the Financial and Monetary Affairs Committee, and said, "Progressives should only use progressive policies, and conservatives should only use conservative policies."
"I don't agree with that. We need a pragmatic approach to economic policy," Cho Seung-rae, chief spokesman for the Democratic Party of Korea, said in a briefing on the same day.
"Representative Lee met with Former Chairman Cho at a restaurant in Yeouido, Seoul today and discussed diplomacy as well as the economy and trade in general," the report said.
Chief spokesman Cho said, "Commissioner Cho is a diplomatic and economic expert who has served as economic advisor to the President, ambassador to the UK, and ambassador to the US. Commissioner Cho said, 'After President Trump took office,
"The importance of diplomacy is growing. Diplomacy only bears fruit after a long investment, so the Republic of Korea must make greater efforts," he said.
Lee continued, "The importance of private diplomacy, including that of businesses, is also growing. We need substantive diplomacy with substance, not formal or superficial diplomacy."
Regarding the current economic situation in South Korea, both expressed concern over the weak won against the dollar and the economic growth rate at around 1%, and discussed the difficulties faced by the petrochemical and steel industries and ways to revitalize the stock market.
"In particular, I don't agree with the idea that progressives should only use progressive policies and conservatives should only use conservative policies. We need a pragmatic approach to economic policy," Cho said.
Regarding the political reality, Cho Former said, "Our politics are fighting for our lives. We need to stop the politics of extremes and put an end to the politics of retaliation.
