"We will block access to Deepseek from South Korea's information and communications networks until we can confirm the security of the information and personal information protection," the company said.
Prior to this, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety of South Korea issued a delegation of instructions to central government agencies and 17 local governments.
The ministry has called for caution against information leaks when using overseas AI generators such as Psyk and Chat GPT.
The agency and other organizations have decided to block Deepseek. Deepseek has been attracting attention for its low price and high performance, but concerns have been raised about the excessive collection of personal information of users.
According to the company's privacy policy, it will collect IP addresses, cookies, and even keystroke patterns.
There have been a number of cases where companies have banned the use of deepseek. The IT giant Kakao has issued a notice to its employees that it will "prohibit the use of deepseek." The telecommunications giant LG U+ has also banned the use of deepseek within its company.
It was also announced that users should refrain from using the service on their personal devices.
