"The statement that President Yoon strongly denied ordering the arrest of politicians was made by Hong Jang-won," spokesman Han Min-soo said at a briefing.
"This is yet another testimony following that of Hong Jang-won, former deputy director of the National Intelligence Service and former commander of the Special Warfare Command, Kwak Jong-geun," he said.
Han wrote that a senior counterintelligence officer was given the task of arresting politicians during an investigation by the military prosecutors.
Regarding reports that he had made a statement, he emphasized, "There is no longer any place for wordplay like "personnel," "legislators" and "personnel," or delusions like the theory of impeachment manipulation."
"President Yoon's sophistry and wordplay can no longer hide the illegal orders.
"No incitement will work," he said. "The impeachment trial is not a karaoke bar where President Yoon can air his delusions," he added sarcastically.
