The Korea Meteorological Administration announced on the 9th that the Han River had frozen over for the first time this winter due to a cold wave that had continued for a week since the beginning of spring. This year's number of days the Han River froze over is the second latest since observations began in 1906.
The freeze-up was 30 days later than the previous observation on January 30th and 14 days later than the observation on January 26th of last year. The Han River freeze-up occurred in a strip of land about 100m upstream of the second and fourth piers of the Han River Bridge, completely covering the river water.
The judgement is based on when it becomes invisible.
