Starbucks Korea surpasses 3 trillion won in sales and increases store count to 2,009 (Korea)
Last year, Starbucks Korea's annual sales exceeded 3 trillion won (US$3.1 billion) for the first time. The number of Starbucks stores in South Korea has exceeded 2,000 and continues to grow.
SCK Company, which operates Starbucks, announced on the 11th that its sales last year were 3.1 trillion won, up 5.8% from 2.9295 trillion won the previous year.
Operating profit also increased by 51 billion won to 190.8 billion won. The operating profit margin was forecast to fall to 10% in 2021 and 4.8% in 2023, but recovered to 6.2% last year.
SCK Company, in which South Korean retail giant E-Mart holds a 67.5% stake, posted sales of 818.3 billion won in the fourth quarter of last year (October to December), up 4.8 percent from the same period the previous year.
Operating profit was 48.6 billion won, an increase of 15.6 billion won. Starbucks Korea introduced the subscription service "Buddy Pass" last year.
The "Now Brewing" service has also been expanded, allowing customers to use "Siren Order" to order certain drinks remotely via an app during peak business hours and receive them more quickly.
The number of Starbucks stores in South Korea reached 2,009 as of the end of last year, an increase of 116 stores in one year. This makes South Korea the third-largest Starbucks store in the world after the United States and China.
It has become the country with the most Starbucks stores. A year ago, Japan had 8 more stores than South Korea, but by adding new stores, South Korea has surpassed Japan by 18 stores.
This marks the 25th year since the first store opened in front of Ewha Women's University in 1999 that the number of stores has surpassed 0.
