Trump-Putin call: ”Agreement to immediately begin negotiations to end the war”
After finishing a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the 12th (local time), US President Donald Trump agreed to immediately begin negotiations to end the Russia-Ukraine war.
On the same day, President Trump posted on his social media account "True Social" that "I have had a long and very productive telephone conversation with President Vladimir Putin."
"We discussed Ukraine, the Middle East, energy, artificial intelligence, the power of the dollar, and other topics," he said.
He said, "I have agreed to cooperate closely with President Putin, including through mutual visits," and
"We have agreed that the negotiating teams will immediately begin negotiations (to end the Russia-Ukraine war)," he said.
President Trump spoke with Secretary of State Marcos Benjamin Lee Rubio, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, White House National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, and Steve Witko.
"We'll start by speaking with President Zelensky of Ukraine," Trump said, "and I'll ask him to explain the conversation (between me and President Putin)."
"I will let you know what it is and what I intend to do," he said. "I believe this effort will soon come to a successful conclusion."
