The Gwangju National Police Agency is investigating the Deep Feik case involving President Yoon and his wife.
The "Deep Feik case of President Yoon Seok-yeol and his wife," which was being investigated by the Cyber Investigation Team of the Seoul National Police Agency, has been transferred to the Gwangju National Police Agency for investigation.
The decision was made in consideration of the convenience of the investigation, as the incident occurred at a rally in support of the impeachment of President Yoon held at the 5-18 Democracy Square in Gwangju on the 5th. The Seoul National Police Agency's Cyber Investigation Team reported on the 18th that they had obtained the digital signatures of President Yoon and his wife.
The Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency announced that it had transferred the Puk Fei case to the Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency. Prior to this, the Gwangju Emergency Action for the Immediate Resignation of the Yoon Seok-yeol Administration and Major Social Reforms (hereafter, the Gwangju Emergency Action) was formed by over 170 civic groups.
On the 15th, the Gwangju Citizens' General Rally (Gwangju People's Action) held the 14th Gwangju Citizens' General Rally at the 5-18 Democracy Square in Gwangju and held a rally in support of the impeachment of President Yoon. The problem was that at the rally, a photo of President Yoon and his wife was used as a photo-editor and a drinking party.
The incident occurred when a video containing scenes of people drinking alcohol was played. Gwangju Emergency Action said, "The organizers did not give official permission to play the video," and "This video was immediately raised as an issue by Gwangju residents.
In relation to this, the Blue House stated, "This is a serious insult to the personality and violation of human rights of the incumbent president and his wife that goes beyond mockery. It is a violation of human rights and has been made by using Deep Feik.
I cannot contain my anger at the criminal act that was committed," he said, and on the 17th, he filed charges against the operator of the YouTube channel that produced and distributed the video for violating the "Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes."
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Cyber Investigation Unit has reportedly completed its investigation into the People's Power Movement's complaints and has now transferred the case to the Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency, where a full investigation is expected to begin soon.
A police official said of the transfer, "The decision was made taking into consideration the location of the crime and the convenience of the investigation."
