Alef Aeronautics recently demonstrated the capabilities of its flying car, the Model A, on California roads.
The Model A received permission for outdoor testing from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in July 2023, and roads were controlled for safety reasons during filming.
The video shows a black electric car flying through the air while driving down a road. Although the speed is a little slow, the car is flying along the road.
The flying car flew about 10 meters low over a white car parked in the parking lot, then landed on the ground. Aleph said its flying car, the Model A, is 100% electric and can run on roads and can fly up to 100 meters.
Aleph said the footage shows the vehicle actually driving on a road and taking off vertically.
The development of flying vehicles has been ongoing for some time, but the first prototype was a seatbelt that could take off vertically while driving on a public road.
This is the first time that the car has been shown to the public. Aleph also released a video showing the Model A running smoothly on unpaved roads. It can reach a speed of 220 miles (about 354 km) on regular roads.
Aleph explains that the Model A can fly at a range of 110 miles (177 kilometers) and has already secured about 3,300 pre-orders.
The price tag will be around $300,000. Aleph plans to start production of the Model A at the end of this year, with deliveries to begin shortly thereafter.
