According to the police on the 24th, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Cyber Investigation Unit arrested an airline employee named A who had investigated and sold the flight boarding information of dozens of celebrities.
An investigation is underway. A look online reveals that celebrity air ticket information is being sold for a variety of prices, ranging from as low as 1,000 won (approx. 100 yen) to 20,000 won (approx. 2,000 yen) per ticket.
Among them, a woman in her 30s, A, is accused of selling the flight information of dozens of popular entertainers, including BTS, from 2023 to last year. A wrote the names of entertainers in a business program.
The culprit reportedly obtained the boarding information by entering the passenger's date of birth and other information. The number of pieces of information sold in this way alone was about 1,000, and the sales revenue exceeded 10 million won (about 1.03 million yen).
A told the police, "At first, I was asked by an acquaintance, and later I sold them for money." The police are tracking whether other idols' airline ticket information has been leaked besides A.
This is not the first time that the personal information of idols and other celebrities has been leaked. In particular, in the case of BTS member RM, a Korea Railroad Corporation employee B has been leaking his personal information and travel history for three years since 2019.
In 2023, it became known that the information had been collected by viewing ticket issuance details, etc.
