"North Korea has expanded its illegal nuclear weapons program and is developing ballistic and cruise missiles," Feinberg said in a written response at a confirmation hearing of the Senate Armed Services Committee on the same day.
"We are heavily focused on improving our defense program," he said. "North Korea poses a clear threat to stability on the Korean Peninsula, in the Indo-Pacific, and around the world."
In response to a question about taking further steps to improve U.S. and allied defenses in the face of North Korea's nuclear and missile programs, Feinberg said:
"Improving missile defense systems, particularly those targeting the U.S. mainland, is important in confronting the growing threat from North Korea," he responded.
He continued, "North Korea's long-standing biological and chemical weapons program also poses a threat," and "North Korea's deployment of troops to serve Russia is also a concern."
It's a point," he pointed out.
