Cho Seung-rye, chief spokesman for the Democratic Party, said in a written briefing that afternoon, "Yoon Seok-youl, the mastermind behind the civil war, has tainted the impeachment trial with unscrupulous lies and forceful allegations until the very end.
"Yoon Seok-youl never reflected on his actions until the very end," he said. "The Constitutional Court should remove Yoon Seok-youl, the mastermind of the civil unrest, from office as soon as possible.
"Even in his final statement, Yoon Seok-youl was full of blaming others, making excuses and delusions. He offered no remorse for the civil war or a sincere apology to the people," he said.
"It's a frightening idea," he said, adding, "They forced unfounded theories on the opposition party and branded them as 'anti-national forces.' It confirmed to us that delusions that ignore the separation of powers and constitutional order are the true essence of civil war."
"Despite the numerous testimonies and evidence that have already been presented, they have made the unscrupulous lies of 'martial law for appeal' and 'peaceful martial law.'
"They insist that everything the public has seen and heard - that they stormed into the Election Commission and tried to illegally arrest various people - is an illusion," he said.
