A South Korean man accused his ex-wife of sexually assaulting him after he told her he had won the lottery

A case was reported in which a man in his 30s who won first prize in the lottery was sued by his ex-wife for sexual assault after he told her of his win.

During this process, his ex-wife left their child at daycare and said, "You go and pick it up. I won't take responsibility," and left A-san in a financially and psychologically difficult period.
Meanwhile, Mr. A won first prize in the lottery and received a prize of 2.4 billion won (net amount of about 1.6 billion won, or about 166 million yen).
Mr. A felt sorry for his ex-wife's difficult life and gave her some of his winnings. However, he later made unreasonable demands.
"I felt bad for my ex-wife because she was living a poor life," he said. "I wanted to ask her for 35 million won (approximately 3.6 million yen) in divorce compensation because of old feelings.
However, after initially expressing her gratitude, the ex-wife began asking about the source of the money, and eventually Mr. A revealed that he had won the lottery.
Then, his ex-wife made unreasonable demands, saying, "I want another 100 million won," and "I want you to buy me a house."
Mr. A said that his ex-wife then began to demand 200 million won, saying, "I would like to receive 100 million won in child support in advance for each child," in addition to contacting Mr. A's father-in-law, who was his father-in-law.
When Mr. A refused these demands, his ex-wife threatened to file civil and criminal lawsuits against him and filed charges including trespass and sexual intercourse without consent.
Mr. A said, "My ex-wife separated from me immediately after the divorce was finalized and made a false claim to the court that I had broken into her home and sexually assaulted her.
"There was a webcam in the house, which showed them living together. The sexual relationship was also consensual." The first instance trial court found Ms. A not guilty.
The court stated, "At the time of the divorce, the ex-wife did not mention the sexual assault even though she had called the women's emergency hotline for advice, and she filed the lawsuit only after learning that A had won the first prize in the lottery.
The court cited several points, including the victim's testimony, and concluded that "the victim's statement lacks credibility."
