EnerCrest, a joint venture between Samsung C&T and LS Electric, was established in 2013. EnerCrest was established with investment from LSE Investments, the US investment arm of LS Electric.
The company will promote a 500-megawatt BESS project being developed by a U.S. subsidiary of its trading division that develops renewable energy.
LS Electric is working with Enercrest on a 500MW BESS project.
The company plans to expand demand for electric wires for energy storage systems (ESS) to North America. In particular, it plans to replace and expand aging power transmission, transformation and distribution facilities, as well as to secure stable supply of electricity due to the expansion of renewable energy businesses.
In response to the demand for electricity infrastructure in North America, such as the need for grid interconnection and the construction of new power grids required for artificial intelligence (AI) data centers, we are working to localize our U.S. business through investment corporations and develop solutions for North America.
An LS Electric official said, "Our current goal is to successfully complete a 500MW class BESS project based on the technology, expertise and know-how of both companies."
He said.
