On the 27th (today), a Korean media outlet reported that the Seoul Songpa Police Station filed a case against a Japanese female fan in her 50s who gave JIN a surprise kiss at JIN's hugging event in June last year at the end of last month and requested her to appear in court earlier this month. The suspect, who is currently in Japan, has yet to give a firm answer to the police request to appear.
Earlier, on the 13th June last year, JIN held his first post-discharge event at the Jamsil Gymnasium in Seoul, a fan event called ‘Seokjin on 13th June 2024, Weather's fine’, where he hugged over 1,000 fans in about three hours. The event was held on 13th June 2024.
However, a fan suddenly put his lips close to JIN's neck and kissed him, which startled JIN so much that he was unable to avoid the kiss and looked flustered. The next day, 14th June, a netizen raised a petition through the Kookmin News Agency, asking for the fan who kissed JIN by surprise to be punished, and the police subsequently began to investigate the incident.
The police then conducted an internal investigation into the incident, which was posted on a Japanese blog: "My lips touched his neck." The police identified the suspect in a post on a Japanese blog, which read: "My lips touched his neck, his skin was soft", and requested an international cooperation investigation by Interpol in Japan to find the author.
At present, the suspect in Japan has not responded to police requests to appear, and JIN, also a victim, is considering how and when to conduct an investigation.
