”Purification is over”... Former ruling party chairman Han Dong-hoon to begin full-fledged role next month - Korean media
Han Dong-hoon, former head of the People Power Party, who published a book about the Dec. 3 emergency martial law incident, will resume full-scale activities next month with a book concert and other events.
According to a ruling party source, Han will hold a book concert for his book "Han Dong-hoon's Choice - People Come First" on the 5th of next month in Donggyo-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul.
Han is expected to begin his book concert and then travel around the country to meet with party members and supporters. Han's book will be published on December 3, the day the state of emergency was declared, before he stepped down as party leader.
The book records the 14 days leading up to the release of "The People Come First." The day before the book was released, people lined up in front of Kyobo Bookstore in Gwanghwamun, hoping to buy the book.
It rose to the top of the best-selling list on the first day of its release. According to Medici Media, Han's book recorded sales of 50,000 copies through preorders alone.
Prior to the book concert, Han is scheduled to attend a play called "The Sea Doesn't Get Wet in the Rain" at a theater in Seoul on the 2nd of next month.
It was the first time Han had made a public appearance in about two and a half months since December 16, last year. "The Sea Doesn't Get Wet in the Rain" is a play about the Second Battle of Yeonpyeong, and Han, who participated in the battle at the time,
The play was produced to honor and commemorate the courage of those who lost their lives. The final performance of the play will be held on the 2nd of next month. The organizers of the performance and the bereaved families invited Han to attend the performance, and he accepted.
During the party conference where Han was elected as the head of the ruling party, Kim Han-na, the wife of the late Sergeant Han Sang-guk, who was killed in the Second Battle of Yeonpyeong, was the chairman of the support group.
In December of last year, former Chairman Han proposed the Kim Hanna Act, which provides survivors' pensions to military personnel and other public servants who die in the line of duty according to their ranks after the fact.
This is a major boost to the passage of the bill.
