People Power lawmakers join rally against impeachment of President Yoon Seok-yeol... ”We must return” - South Korea
On March 1, which was Independence Day, lawmakers from the People Power Party participated in a rally against the impeachment of President Yoon Seok-yeol.
They argued that President Yoon should return to his duties as the court has dismissed the case. According to the political world, People Power lawmakers held a rally near Yeouido Station in Seoul on the same day.
He attended the March 1st National Emergency Prayer Meeting organized by Save Korea. Former People's Power Representative Kim Ki-hyun and People's Power Floor Representative Chu Kyung-ho, as well as other senior lawmakers and first-time elected officials, were also present.
As of 2 p.m., 36 lawmakers, including those re-elected, had participated. Rep. Kim Ki-hyun stood on the podium and said, "I am grateful that all of you patriotic citizens have come here today to help keep our country alive.
"Today marks the 106th anniversary of the March First Independence Movement. Just as the people of Korea achieved independence, the Republic of Korea is also here to save the country," Kim said.
"I think it's the people," he said. "President Yoon Seok-yeol's impeachment should never happen," he said. "I recently saw President Yoon making his final statement during the final hearing of his impeachment trial.
Did you hear it? I cried as I listened. I thought about how lonely it must have been, how difficult it must have been for them."
He continued, "However, rather than pursuing personal comfort, I have decided to take on the thorny path, even if it is difficult, in order to save the country.
But I saw a leader who said that we must continue down this path. Isn't that right?" he asked. "So I think President Yoon must make a comeback, but I'm sure you all agree.
I believe that with the power of all of you who are joining us today, our cry of "God, help me!" will reach the skies. All the members of the People Power Party will join you in action until the very end.
"I will," he insisted.
