Rep. Yoo, who visited Ukraine for a four-day, three-night trip from the 23rd to the 26th of last month, held a press conference at the National Assembly on the same day and revealed the details of his meetings with North Korean prisoners of war.
"The purpose of this visit was to meet with Andrei Nikolayenko, chairman of the Korea-Ukraine Parliamentary Friendship Council, and to attend the Yalta Forum held in the capital, Kiev, on the 24th of last month," Rep. Yoo said.
"This visit was made possible at the official invitation of the organizers of the Special European Strategic Conference," he said. "During my visit, I was able to see with my own eyes the reality of Ukraine, which is suffering from the effects of war."
Ri also reportedly testified about the damage suffered by North Korean troops, saying, "Considering the fighting situation, the damage is quite large."
Meanwhile, in a recent interview with South Korean media, Ri said he was "about 80% sure" about his decision to surrender.
However, during his meeting with Rep. Yoo, he expressed his firm intention, saying, "I definitely want to go to Korea."
