With only the final verdict remaining in the Constitutional Court's impeachment trial of President Yoon Seok-yeol, public opinion polls have shown that a majority are in favor of impeachment.
The Digital Times commissioned the Korea Social Opinion Institute (KSOI) to conduct a survey on the 28th of last month to the 1st of this month.
According to the "National Public Opinion Poll on Political Issues" released on the 4th, which surveyed 1,001 men and women aged 18 or older nationwide, 54.0% of all respondents were in favor of impeachment, 44.5% were against, and 54.5% were against it.
Narrowing the scope of the survey, 64.4% of people who consider themselves moderate were in favor of impeachment, while 33.7% were opposed.
Although the number of people in favor of impeachment has dropped significantly since just after the state of martial law, the number of people in favor of impeachment still exceeds those against it.
Opposition to impeachment remained at the 10% level immediately after the state of emergency. Party approval ratings were close, with the Democratic Party of Korea at 40.3% and the People Power Party (the ruling party) at 41.1%.

Regarding the debate over restructuring the national power structure, 47.2% of respondents said that a four-year presidential term was the most appropriate option.
The answer was 26.4%. The current five-year single appointment system was the most appropriate. In addition, when asked about extending the retirement age, 76.6% were in favor and 17.1% were against.
In particular, 80.7% of people in their 20s were in favor. 59.2% of people were in favor of lowering the top inheritance tax rate from 50% to 40%, while 26.7% were opposed.
The survey was conducted using a structured questionnaire and telephone AR, targeting a randomly selected sample from the virtual number frame of mobile phones provided by telecommunications companies.
