Russia: ”North Korea's strengthening of defense capabilities amid US-South Korea drills is justified”... ”Condolences to victims of South Korean fighter jet mistaken bombing”

As the US and South Korea are conducting joint military exercises, Russia stated on the 6th (local time) that it "believes that North Korea is legitimate in strengthening its defense capabilities."
"In a climate of rising tensions, we need to strengthen our defense capabilities to respond to external security threats and safeguard our sovereignty," a Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman said at a press conference on the same day.
"We believe that North Korea's measures to protect its borders are justified," he said. "We are closely monitoring developments on the Korean Peninsula. Unfortunately, the military exercises being conducted by the United States and South Korea have led to the
"Tensions continue to rise," he said, expressing concern that the regular U.S.-South Korea joint exercise "Freedom Shield" could further increase military tensions.
He also mentioned the incident that occurred on the same day in Pocheon, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, in which a fighter jet mistakenly bombed a civilian.
"We offer our condolences to the victims and want them to understand that threatening to use weapons never ends well," the spokesman said.
