In August, a man was found in an underground parking lot in Jung-gu, Incheon, after reaching his hand through an open window to unlock a car and stealing an external hard drive, a mobile phone charger and cosmetics worth 200,000 won (approximately 20,000 yen).
He is also suspected of stealing goods, including a bicycle worth 250,000 won (US$250) in September last year in Yeonsu-gu, Incheon.
The court said, "The defendant has a history of receiving suspended prison sentences and other criminal punishments for similar crimes.
The court sentenced the defendant to prison, saying, "Despite the fact that he committed the crimes several times, he committed them repeatedly in a short period of time. The defendant was unable to come to terms with the victims or make amends for their losses."
However, "the defendant admits all of his mistakes. The total amount of damage is not that large, and to some extent it is a crime for the purpose of earning a living. The defendant has no history of being sentenced to prison.
