China CPI falls 0.7% year-on-year in February - Chinese report
The National Bureau of Statistics of China announced the February Consumer Price Index (CPI) on the 9th. According to the announcement, the national CPI for February fell 0.7% compared to the same month last year.
In both the rural and urban areas, prices fell 0.7%. Food prices increased 3.3%, non-food prices decreased 0.1%, consumer goods prices decreased 0.9%, and service prices decreased 0.4%.
Looking at the average for January and February, the national CPI fell 0.1% from the same period last year. Among food prices, the price of pork increased 4.1% from the same month last year, and the price of fresh vegetables increased 12.
The CPI for the whole country in February was down 0.2% from the previous month, with urban areas down 0.2% and rural areas down 0.1%.
Food prices fell 0.5%, non-food prices fell 0.1%, consumer goods prices remained flat, and services prices fell 0.5%.
Compared to the previous month, pork prices fell 1.9%, fresh vegetables fell 3.8%, and fruit fell 1.
This is an 8% increase.
