In a statement sent to reporters on the same day, the Presidential Office said, "The area around the official residence is a military facility protection area where the incumbent president and head of state resides, and as a security facility directly connected to national security, it cannot be used in any form.
"We would like to reiterate that taking photographs or videos of the area around the Prime Minister's Office without permission is punishable under the Military Base and Military Facilities Protection Act," he added.
"This is an illegal act that could potentially threaten the national security system," the president said. "The presidential office made it clear that it will take strong action against such illegal acts, including legal review."
Prior to this, the JoongAng Ilbo newspaper reported that he was seen strolling with visitors in the garden of the official residence in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul on the afternoon of the 10th.
