[Official Interview] Lemino Exclusive Stream ”Family Planning” Lead Actress Bae Doo Na Talks About Her Character's Charm and Behind-the-Scenes Story
Bae Doo na, the lead actress of the Korean TV series "Family Planning," which is being streamed exclusively on DoCoMo's video streaming service "Lemino," talks about the appeal of her character and behind-the-scenes stories from the filming.
Q. What kind of TV series is "Family Planning"? Please give us a brief introduction to your character, Yongsoo. A.
"Family Planning" is a work that tells the story of an unrelated family becoming a real family.
The five of us - Ryu Seung-beom, Baek Yun-sik, Lomon, Lee Soohyeon, and myself (Bae Doona) - play the roles of a family.
Five people who met in a special training unit that makes human weapons hope to escape and become a "normal family."
The story is about a man who gets caught up in a mysterious incident, and in the incident, he uses his special powers to "gift" hell to the bad guys. The character I played, Yeongsoo, is the mother of the family.
She is the kindest and best mother to her twin siblings Ji-hoon and Ji-woo, but she also has a special ability called "brain hacking."
Q. What are the points of interest in "Family Planning"? A. There are many points of interest in "Family Planning". First of all, I think the "black comedy" element is very appealing. And the family
One thing viewers should pay close attention to is the spectacular action scenes in which the five characters use their extraordinary abilities and Yeong-soo's "brain hacking" to defeat the bad guys.
Above all, the incidents that appear in the TV Series are not fantasy, but contain social messages that are reminiscent of various incidents that have actually occurred in Korea.
I think the point is also the refreshing ending of "karma", where bad things happen when you do bad things. Q. What is the appeal of Yongsu?
A. Yeongsoo is a clumsy woman. Even though she has been a mother for over 15 years, she is a terrible cook (laughs).
She is not good at sharing or empathizing with others, and is an emotionless person, but she smiles and smiles every day to be a warm mother to her children.
Practice. Although she looks strong on the outside, she is soft on the inside and has the charm of being "soft on the inside and tough on the outside." Q. What are the similarities and differences between Bae Doo Na and Yong Soo?
A. I don’t like tamagoyaki (rolled omelet). (laughs) The character has a strong appearance but a soft personality on the inside, which is similar to me.
Also, like Yongsoo, I think the way she cherishes and loves her children above all else is something we have in common.
Q. What did you pay particular attention to or put effort into while playing the role of Yeongsoo?
A. Yeongsoo is a character who is bad at expressing his emotions and keeps them under control. I tried hard to portray Yeongsoo as an emotionally empty character.
Q. If you were in this family, who would you like to be and what would you do? A. I think Jihoon's character would be good.
I want to be a character like Ji Hoon who is smart and has genius hacking skills. I want Ji Hoon to be someone who doesn't directly hurt people and has no character flaws in his family.
I think so (laughs). Q. Please tell us if there was any memorable episode during filming. A. It seems difficult to choose just one.
Every time I shoot a scene, I think to myself, "Let's do our best today!"
I was ready for it. That's why I remember every shoot. Q. What are you into these days (food, music, movies... anything) and what are your hobbies? A.
The food I'm into these days is "Focaccia" and the music I'm into these days is "Come Together" by "Stray Kids".
Play. (laughs) It's the music I listen to whenever I drive. When I exercise, I often watch movies, series, and TV series, so I actually often watch long episodes.
Recently I watched "Trauma Code" and "League of Legends", a variety show featuring archery players, which I also found interesting.
Q. Do you have a favorite Japanese food? What would you like to eat when you come to Japan?
A. Udon, onigiri, tonkatsu, sushi, okonomiyaki, ramen, etc. I have so many favorite Japanese foods that I can't list them all here.
I also love Japanese desserts. I also like "Tokushima sweet potato chips." Q. Finally, please say a few words to our Japanese viewers.
A. Please watch our TV series "Family Planning." And please show lots of interest and love to the actor Bae Doona. We hope to continue to do our best in the future.
We hope to be able to meet you in the form of characters from various works. Thank you very much.
