Actor Kang Myung-just died on February 27th after a battle with cancer. She was 53 years old.
Her daughter, actor Park Se-yeon, stated, "My mother left for a distant road yesterday afternoon," and added, "Actor Kang Myung-ju, I would be grateful if you could remember with me the stage and shining moments that my mother loved so much.”
After the funeral, she said, "My mother, whose New Year's resolution was to welcome spring, was presented with a truly warm spring day this year," and added, "We, her family, were greatly comforted by the gratitude she shared with us, and we know she was not lonely. We will always keep in our hearts the labor you have sent to us, and we will live our lives with your kindness in our hearts.”
Prior to this, the late Kang Myung-ju stood on stage in numerous plays, including "Guillemain Hamlet," "Blood and Seeds," "20th Century Blues," and "Bi Bea.”
She also had a small role as a judge in the popular drama "Extraordinary Lawyer Woo" and last year she played the role of Kang Ja-young in the "KBS Drama Special 2024 - Around the Corner."
Most notably, the late actress reportedly continued her passion for acting even during her battle with cancer, and she attracted attention when she appeared in the Netflix series "When Life Gives You Tangerines" as the mother of "Yong-beom," played by Lee Joon-young. As Park Se-yeon had hoped, the late Kang Myung-ju’s beloved stage and her moment of brilliance will remain forever.
When Life Gives You Tangerines is a four-season drama that portrays the adventurous lives of Aesun, a "bright rebellious boy" born in Jeju, and Gwang-shik, a "ridiculously honest and iron-fisted boy.”
