A one-year prison sentence has been requested for Moon Da-hae, daughter of former President Moon Jae-in, who is being held without detention on charges of drunk driving and operating an illegal lodging business.
At Moon's first hearing, which was held at the Seoul Western District Court, the prosecution requested that the sentence be handed down to one year in prison.
The prosecution said, "The defendant's blood alcohol level was high, he caused a traffic accident resulting in property damage due to drunk driving, and he has been fined a total of 136 million won (approximately 13.82 million yen) over a period of about five years for violating the Public Health Management Act.
On October 5 last year, Moon was arrested in front of a hotel in Itaewon, Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
He was accused of driving a car while drunk and changing lanes, colliding with a taxi behind him (Drunk Driving under the Road Traffic Act). His blood alcohol content at the time of the accident was below the license revocation standard.
The figure was 0.149%, exceeding the 0.08% figure. In addition, an office and villa in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul, and a detached house in Jeju were arrested for being illegal lodgings.
He is also accused of operating the facility (violating the Public Health Management Act).
