The World Happiness Report (WHR) has released a ranking of countries by happiness level. Finland came in first with a happiness score of 7.736, making it the happiest country for the eighth consecutive year.
Following them were Denmark (7.521 points), Iceland (7.515 points), and Sweden (7.345 points), all of which were Nordic countries that recorded high scores.
South Korea ranked 58th (6.038 points), down six places from last year (52nd). The United States ranked 24th (6.728 points), its lowest ranking since the survey began in 2012.
Western countries are generally less happy in 2022-2024 than in 2005-2010. The United States, Switzerland and Canada saw particularly large declines in their happiness scores.
Ukraine, which has been at war for three years, ranked 111th (4.680 points), and Russia 66th (5.945 points).
